Part of what keeps the skin looking youthful and refreshed is volume. Unfortunately, as we age, we lose facial fat and develop hollowing beneath the eyes and cheekbones, resulting in a concave, gaunt appearance. By using dermal fillers such as JUVÉDERM® at our St. Louis med spa, we can restore definition and fullness to areas including under the eyes, cheeks, chin, or lips while also softening wrinkles. This treatment is a favorite among those seeking a naturally refreshed look and provides lasting results, often up to a year or longer.

Why Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are an excellent option for anyone who wants to reduce the look of deep facial lines (particularly “smile lines” around the mouth) or add volume to specific areas of the face. The effects of dermal fillers can last for many months, and some long-lasting fillers, such as Sculptra®, actually cause your skin to act younger and can produce changes that last for more than a year.

Dermal Filler FAQ
How do dermal fillers work? Dermal fillers contain substances such as hyaluronic acid that help fill depressed areas of the face. Some dermal fillers are natural and some are synthetic, but both work to enhance the look of aging skin.
What are the different types of dermal fillers? There are many types of dermal fillers available. Our practice offers several of the most popular: JUVÉDERM, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, Sculptra, RADIESSE®, Perlane®, and BELOTERO BALANCE®.
How do I know which product to choose? Your treatment provider will recommend the right product for you based on your skin type and concerns. Usually, JUVÉDERM is used in individuals who want to enhance the lips or reduce prominent wrinkles. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA XC is FDA-approved to replace volume in the cheeks that’s diminished as a result of aging. RADIESSE is a slightly thicker formula that is especially suited to areas of the face that require more structural support, such as the jowls or under the eyes. Sculptra is a long-lasting filler that works well for people who want more subtle changes over time.
What can I do about forehead wrinkles? The best option for forehead lines is the wrinkle-relaxing treatment [link pid=95]BOTOX® Cosmetic[/link]. BOTOX can be combined with dermal fillers for a synergistic effect that reduces wrinkles while restoring youthful volume.

Your Treatment Experience
Dermal filler treatment is a simple in-office procedure that typically takes about 30 minutes. Your procedure will be performed by our registered nurse who has in-depth experience using proper injection techniques.
A numbing cream may first be applied for extra comfort. Then, using a tiny needle, the filler will be administered into wrinkles or hollow areas of the face. This is not usually uncomfortable and is well tolerated by most. If another treatment such as BOTOX is recommended, it can be performed simultaneously.
You will notice an immediate improvement after treatment; however, light swelling can distort the final results for a few days. If Sculptra is used, it may take multiple treatments and several weeks for results to develop. The results of most dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 to 12 months, although others, such as JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC, may last for up to 2 years.1
